I've kind of been the same way. So - I...Yeah. I've kind of been the same way. So - I bought a couple of splat mats to go under the high chair, keep wipes for easy clean up on the table and I let her hold the spoon and also guided the spoon into her mouth until she figured out that keeping the spoon right side up is more effective for getting the food into her mouth. Practice does make perfect. I am soooooo lazy...Oh honey, your gotta let it go! I am soooooo lazy, Charlie is 100% on his own for feeding himself now. That's what bibs are for, catching the mess. And then there is the whole, wash cloth wipe down. The more independent you let them be, the easier your job gets. He'll get the hang of it, but you have to give him time to practice.
